Through The Wall-ATM

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Industrial and Mechanical Engineering design of the "through the wall ATM" used in store or banks.

Work flow:

A standard foot print dimension for the ATM was given by the Client.

Study:

A detailed study on TTW ATM

Detailed study about IP 54

Concept development:

Various Concept were developed based on the component placement by paper cuts and card board to achieve ADA standard, and also to meet the competitors product size.

CAD:

CAD designs of the selected concepts were made to check the components placement, aesthetic and overall feature including functional and supporting mechanical designs, andPeripheral Mounting must be taken care to satisfy IP54 requirements.

Industrial Design:

ID were generated and selected according to the functionality, manufacturing feasibility, low cost and aesthetic of the machine.

Mock up:

After selecting design, mock ups were made by thermocol and card board to get the real time experience.

IP Testing:

Did a frugal testing for IP 54 in house, it involves choosing the particular silicone material which is having the good abrasion resistance, sea water resistance also meet RoHS compliant.

Followed the satndard IP 54 test scenario and validated the concept.

Prototype:

The 1st prototype was design with sheet-metal fabrication. Design and functionality were reviewed by the customer and some changes were updated in the CAD design.

Manufacture Support:

Transfer the document and Supported the client in production stage by customizing design for their manufacturer to get easy manufacturing feasibility also to standardize the design flow chart.



CHALLENGES:

  • Component placement to meet the given foot print dimension.

  • To meet the IP54 requirement.

  • Achieving aesthetic look without customized tooling.

ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS:

  • Converted Lobby ATM to Through the wall ATM, without changing the internal modules

  • Adhered to ADA and IP54 Ingress Protection Standards

  • Bend acrylic into shape to avoid tooling and making it cost effective

  • 2 open door back side and right side of the service box for refilling and servicing.

  • Avoid plastic and mostly sheet-metal were used to cut the cost on tooling.
