The design of a DFC Kiosk which is a diabetic diagnostic tool consists of range of diagnostic and therapeutic modules for the management of diabetes and its complication affecting the foot.

The modules which are combined into the kiosk includes

Work flow Process:


Requirement & Suggestion:

The project started as an enhancement of the existing 5 distinct types of diagnostic modules with an Aesthetical liftBut, Srushty suggested a combined kiosk in which all the 5 Modules are combined together into a single Kiosk trolley which has improved the user ergonomics, tim required for diagnosing and patient’s comfortability.

Initial Research & study:

  • Clinical Visit : Stepping into the shoes of the practitioners we were able to understand the ergonomic requirements of the probes and the functionality of individual modules.

  • Finalization of Kiosk Foot Print, Height of the Kiosk by Ergonomics study

  • Basic Structural design and Analysis

  • Internal wire routing layout designto reduce EMI/EMC.

  • Determination of the topological arrangement of individual modules.

  • Concept generation & discussion-Free hand sketch

Industrial design:

Many Industrial design of Kiosk (Position of Probes and Monitor) was made. Then finalisation of industrial design and all other dimensions was done with the client.

Frugal Prototype:

Card board mock-up to get the feel of size

Thermocol mock-up to get the feel of appearance

First Prototype:

Mechanical engineering of Table Top and Chair version of the Kiosk was done

  • Detailed 3D CAD design: We made the 3D design of all the parts included in the product as well as of the PCB to check its fittings with the device while considering the service point of view.

  • Process the engineering design of each components

  • Assembly sequence : Assemble all the components into one working model

  • Clearance analysis: to ensure the dimensional accuracy for exact assembling of components and functionality of all the parts as determined.

Testing :

Mechanical and Software design of the kiosk were tested for its functionality, reliability and performance.



There were some challenges in the project such as meeting the height of the chair of kiosk with the hospital bed, maintaining the compact size of the machine and welding the shape of the sheet metal without tooling.



The height of chair kiosk was solved by the mechanical team by study on clinical visits and intense ergonomics study. Progressive bending helps to get the desired design and efficiency of our mechanical team helps to solve the compactness issues.



The product was made successfully and went for field study to collect suggestions from hospitals doctor & service people.
